Attention & Focusing

We use four unique programs (that were designed by professionals) that have been proven to increase focusing and attention span for individuals who struggle in these areas. We design an individual plan that fits each person's needs.

These programs help individuals who have ADD(H) or characteristics of ADD(H), autism, PDD, CP, learning disabilities, executive function, organization concerns and those who want to increase their coordination and timing for sports.

Attention and Focusing Program I

All the programs we use have been researched and are proven to increase attention span and focusing skill. Many times teachers and physicians will recommend medication for these concerns. What we recommend is working with your physician, teachers and us to develop an alternative plan.

One of the programs we use is a computer-based training program shown to improve attention, coordination and time in children and adults with a wide range of cognitive and physical difficulties including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This program provides a non-invasive way to stimulate learning and development.

How does it work?

Timing is everything . . .

The program typically involves 15 sessions (45 minutes to 1 hour each) with sessions 2 to 3 times per week. During each session, the computer produces a metronome beat heard through headphones. As the participant listens, he/she performs various hand and foot exercises for a high number of repetitions to a rhythmic beat. Auditory tones provide immediate feedback, letting the participant know if the response was on time, early, or late. The difference between the participant's response and the actual beat is measured in milliseconds and a score is provided.

The ultimate goal is to achieve a low score, which indicates improved performance. Research has clearly shown that the brain learns through repetition of precise activities. By keeping the beat, the brain is trained to plan, sequence and process information more effectively.

Benefits of this training are:
The training is physically interactive so participants stay engaged and challenged. Overall, this training has shown to improve:

Attention and Focusing Program II

This program is a computerized educational system for students demonstrating difficulty in focusing attention and restless behaviors.

What does it do?
This is a patented computer-based feedback training system. Its interactive format incorporates the latest brain research for rapid gains in attention. Its primary purpose is to help children and adults learn how to control their ability to concentrate. This program also increases skills necessary for success in the learning process. It uses the same technology NASA astronauts and US Air Force pilots use to stay attentive in the cockpit. Clinicians have also used less advanced techniques for 25 years. Our uniquely successful educational adaptation of this cutting edge technology is available for your use now.

Why is this program so Effective?
Because of its patented protocol which integrates cognitive skill training with academic, behavioral, and social skills training, it is absolutely the most comprehensive and effective integrated learning system available. The patent insures that it is the only learning system to accommodate all the needs of the attentionally challenged individual. It advances upon the same technology NASA astronauts and US Air Force pilots use to stay attentive in the cockpit. While other systems utilize antiquated technology or are mere toys with no educational value, our uniquely successful educational adaptation of this cutting edge technology is available for your use now. This program is used effectively in the United States, Europe, China, and Australia.

How does it work?
This program consists of a fun helmet similar to the ones commonly used for roller-blading, biking, etc., and game-like video exercises that run on almost any computer. The helmet is lined with sensors that monitor the user's brain waves associated with the attentive state and cognitive processing. The user actually controls the computer video exercises by mind alone! By maintaining an attentive state, the user can move and control screen characters. Attention is no longer an abstract concept -- makes attention concrete and controllable.

Using this program is often the first time a person has ever seen his attentive state in real-time. That's because while playing these specially adapted games the helmet sensors measure levels of attention and transmit this information back to the special software in the games. This software allows the games to provide immediate feedback about attention levels. For most users with attention problems, this is the first time in their lives that they can feel, see, and control their attention states in real time.

Attention and Focusing Program III

What does it do?

This program trains individuals how to relax themselves. Many times individuals who have attention concerns and/or anxiety do not know how to get themselves to relax.  It uses the heart-rate and visual cues to reinforce what if feels like when you are in a good relaxed state of mind.

We have had excellent results with this program for individuals who have impulse control issues and test anxiety.

Attention and Focusing Program IV

What does it do?

This program trains individuals how to maintain their relaxed state.  Our other program teach them how to relax, get focused and stay on task.  This program teaching them how to do it for a longer period of time.

It uses many game modes making it fun for the child.  They don't even now they are learning to stay focused.

Attention and Focusing I, II, III and IV are one program. We have discovered by using all of these program together we get the BEST results. These programs takes between 6-12 months to complete.  Students attend two times a week for one hour.
